NHS advisers say, Employers must pay more attention to workplace stress and anxiety.
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) said the cost of work related mental illness was £28bn – a quarter of the UK’s total sick bill.
The group claimed that bad managers were the single cause of problems. But, the problem can be tackled and the impact can be reduced by following simple steps like giving positive feedback to employees, allowing flexible working and giving extra days off to the employees as a reward.
NICE also advised employers to invest in training for managers and mentoring for staff to help career development.
