Turning Slow Mornings into a Productive Start

Mornings are a flurry of activities in a family. To have the lunches, backpacks and briefcases ready to go on time can be a challenge. If you are a new college student trying to finish your degree in finance or any other degree for that matter, getting used to this routine can be very difficult. Especially if you are not a lark or you habitually put in late hours. In this case consider the advantage of earning an online master’s degree in finance from the comfort of your home.


Most people don’t wake up feeling rested or happy. So if you are waking up feeling tired and grumpy, you are bound for a bad morning.

Even if you are not an early morning person, a few easy steps to make changes can make a lot of difference to your morning mood and a good start will make the rest of the day more relaxed and happy.

Turn in early

This may not be an easy decision to take, but its rewards are immense. All you may need to do is forgo that late sitcom or surf the internet for an hour less.

Maybe all you need is enough sleep and turning in early will help you wake up rested and relaxed in the morning.

Wake up a little earlier. That will give you a little extra time and make things a little less hasty to meet the morning dead lines. It will also give you a little extra time to do something you like.

It could be a little reading, a few stretches or a short walk or simply the long shower that is able to wash off the sleepy air of the mornings when you would rather not wake up. Keep an eye on the clock though; you don’t want to end up rushing till the last moment. Now that you have started the day with something you like, you will feel happier and less stressed.

Prepare overnight

If you give it a little thought you will realize that there are many things that you can do the night before, saving you precious minutes in the morning. Layout the morning clothes in the night, so that you don’t have to stare at the wardrobe in the morning. Make preparations for the lunch boxes, overnight.

This could include chopping veggies or other such dry preparations. Prepare school bags and any other things that you can think of the night before. Set the timer for your first cup of coffee, so that you have a piping cup ready exactly when you want it. Every small thing will help and save you all those minutes that will give you a relaxed start to the day.

Wake up to music

Set the radio or music player to wake you with the music of your choice. This will help to set your mood right and kick start the day with a pleasant smile.

Save a few me minutes

Keep a few minutes aside to be able to calm down and spend them with yourself. Think positive and happy thoughts. Offer a small prayer of thanks or anything else that helps to soothe you and prepare you for the day ahead.

These changes will not make a lot of difference to your daily schedule, but they will make a huge difference to your morning mood. Always keep in mind that a happy morning leads to a stress free day.
