Life is all about conflicts and resolutions. Whether you are at home, at work or even out shopping, conflicts can seem to find you and the only way to get out of it is by negotiating. But negotiation has a lot of facets and you need to learn each of them to get out of messy situations that not only complicate life but also leave a bad taste in your mouth. So, here are a few ways in which you can handle conflicts.
Easy Ways to Negotiate
As a man who does not like confrontation and arguments, you can resort to this style. It is peaceful and gives a lot of space to those of you who want the people not in agreement with you to have a fair play in a situation that can be profitable for both. To accommodate you need to be prepared to lose some of your own ground but at the same time be sure to place your points in such a way that the others agree to you.
This is for those who do not have the intention to cooperate. So if you are someone who would like to see her needs and ideas getting the first spot, then you can start to compete with those opposing you. Throw them a challenge and get your bone. But before you do, make sure that you are confident to win the spot.
If you do not want to agree and cooperate and at the same time you are not in the mood for any altercation, then simply avoid the issue and let the big elephant remain in your room. This might mean that you reduce conversation or try and act as if nothing really happened between the two participating groups.
You find your opponent too dear or too fearful and hence you decide to concede. That is what compromise means. This might leave you in a tight spot as your opponent might not be as giving as you and see your compromising nature as a weakness. This can empower him/her to take advantage and get his/her points fulfilled.
If your nature is to be cooperative and assertive all at the same time, then collaboration should be your forte. This skill needs to be hones as it involves a lot of leadership quality and demands you to be quite creative so that you can come with a good solution.
