Everyone knows that the key to maintaining a happy, fulfilling relationship is showing your partner just how much they mean to you. If you’ve seemed to run out of ideas in that department, you’re in luck because here’s a list of some of the best ways to show your affection so your significant other knows you love them.
Traditional methods still work! Gifts are always a great way to go when it comes to showering your loved one with affection and flowers, chocolates, and small presents are some pretty amazing ideas to get your idea across. It’s a small gesture that lets them know you were thinking of them and that you know what they like.
If you aren’t quite sure what they would like, or if you’ve already bought them everything under the sun, make something yourself. When it comes to personalized gifts, you can’t really go wrong and it doesn’t matter if you aren’t a master poet or a great artist. The fact that you went through the work is enough to show them you love them.
If you’re both able to take a day off work and spend it entirely together, spend that time experiencing something. It doesn’t have to be something like traveling to Rome; it can just be something simple. Some of the best stories couples have are the times they got lost in another state or saw a horrible movie just to kill time. Not only does this show that you can enjoy their company regardless, but it helps bring you two much closer.
And if you’re planning on seeing a bad movie together, shoot for a really horrible horror film. Typically, horror films raise the adrenaline in people and studies have shown that those who see slasher and paranormal movies on their dates have a euphoric-like aura to them afterward. Plus, the adrenaline helps stimulate you for later activities much better than those romantic comedies.
If you’re the couple who is always interested in comics, films, or television shows, you should definitely be cosplaying together. Dress up as a character from your significant other’s favorite anything and have them dress as yours. Shoot for attending a showing or a convention and do a couple’s day out of it. Even if that isn’t possible, you can still have a convention of your own in the living room. Not only will this be a sure fire way to their heart, but it’ll be that much fun when you undress one another later.
Never underestimate the power of spontaneity. A lot of couples routinely become complacent in the same day to day activities and it gets increasingly more difficult to get out of that rut once you’ve been placed into it, so nip it at the bud and start doing things “just because.” Whether it’s a day trip to the beach or something as cozy as cooking your significant other’s favorite meal for no reason, it will have lasting benefits. They’ll appreciate it (and you) and it will definitely bring you closer together.
There are tons of ways to show your partner how much they mean to you and they don’t always have to be what you see in movies. Think outside of the box and really pay attention to who they are as a person to help cultivate the perfect shower of affection that will have them reeling for days.
